We are looking for students who want to try out for the Best of Broadway Show at Upland High School this year.  Auditions for PJH’s 2018 Best of Broadway will be held on Wednesday, February 21 from 1:30 to 3:30 in the Pioneer Multipurpose Room.

PJH will be performing the song “Thriller” from Michael Jackson’s “This Is It!”  It is important that students wear comfortable clothes and shoes for auditions.   They should be prepared to speak/sing/dance for the tryout.  It would be helpful and to their benefit to know the song/dance to “Thriller”.

Our performance is not a guarantee; we STILL HAVE TO AUDITION FOR THE BEST OF BROADWAY PROGRAM at UHS!

PLEASE REMEMBER that this is a staged performance.  Every student will have a part in the performance that is difficult to substitute.  The dates of Best of Broadway are April 27 and 28 at 7:00 PM at UHS.  IF YOU KNOW NOW THAT YOU CANNOT MAKE THESE PERFORMANCES, please do not audition.  All practices will be after school in the Multipurpose Room.  Students will be informed on Friday, February 23 if they make it.

PLEASE FILL OUT THE ATTACHED FORM AND RETURN IT TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE BY TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 20.

PLEASE KEEP THE TOP FOR THE INFO!

The lists of students that pre-ordered a yearbook are on the boards outside of the office. All students should check the list to see if their name is on it -  even if they are sure they pre-ordered a yearbook.

If your name is not on the list - you did not order a yearbook.

If your name is not on the list and you believe it should be – See Mrs. Peterson.

Do not wait until it is too late.

The LAST DAY to pre-order a yearbook  for $45 is on Friday, January 12th - No exceptions.

To pre-order a yearbook students just need to bring $45 cash or check to the office before school, after school until 3:30 or during lunch.

After January 12th yearbooks will NOT be sold again until the day they are handed out in June. The price will increase to $60 CASH ONLY. And will be sold on the First Come - First Serve Basis until they are sold out. Only a limited supply will be ordered.

The name Wendelin Van Draanen may not be a household name but it will be after her visit to Pioneer on 9/11/17.

Wendelin is lively, energetic, funny and inspiring. She wrote manuscripts that publishers rejected over the course of 10 years and then one "magic phone call" changed her life. Hard work and  persistence pays off.

This accomplished author wrote the Sammy Keyes series and a long list of other books.  Wendelin's work has appeared on Nickelodeon, and a really good movie entitled, ' Flipped'.

Bring paper, a pencil and listening ears to the library @11:30 on 9/11/17.

Listening and watching Wendelin makes you want to read.

Hello Pioneer Parents

Monday, August 21st, is the first day of school for both 7th & 8th graders. School begins at 7:45 and ends at 2:15.

Compact Days are every Wednesday with dismissal at 1:15.

Please see the school calendar in your child’s planner for all minimum and non-school days for this school year.

If your child was not here for schedule pick-up day – they will need to return the completed “Student Emergency Card” from the parent portal (it is important to make sure both parents/guardians are listed UNDER the contacts tab and that ALL 6 of the authorizations have been signed for this school year).

This form MUST be turned in at the tables in front of the office beginning at 7:15 on Monday morning. Students will not be able to attend school without this form.

If your student has not turned in their proof of the Tdap immunization, you must also bring that with you on the first day of school.  Students cannot attend school without this immunization.

Beginning on Monday the nurse will be available to receive medication.

If your child requires medication on campus it must be brought in to the health office by a parent or guardian with the district required form – NO EXCEPTIONS!

It is very important that all parents and students each sign up for their own Schoolloop account. We do not send fliers home at the jr high level. All communication is done through Schoolloop.

If you need information on Schoolloop please stop by or call the school office.

FYI - The Aeries Parent Portal and Schoolloop are two completely different sites and are used for different reasons.

Parents need to have both accounts (Parent Accounts).

All students must have a Schoolloop student account.

If you want information on what the different accounts are used for, please stop by the school office, we will be happy to explain it to you.

Thank you for listening and we look forward to an exciting school year!

WAY TOO MANY DRESS CODES GOING ON:

Most of the Dress Codes lately are for holes in jeans & shorts and students wearing tops that are too short & shorts that are too short!

Reminder – even though the weather is getting warmer students are still required to follow the school dress code!

This means: NO tank tops, NO short shorts (the length of shorts & skirts MUST be where the fingers and palm meet when arms are straight at your sides), NO sleeveless tops, NO crop tops (If you raise your hands above your head and your shirt rises and shows your stomach – it is too short) & NO clothing with any tears, holes and/or frays (even with something underneath, they are not allowed).

If you have a question on if something is within dress code, come in and ask BEFORE you wear it!

We will be happy to assist you.

Volunteer Drive for Next Year (’17-’18)

Attention 7th Grade Homerooms

Starting TODAY through Friday, April 21st, the Pioneer PTSA is holding a volunteer drive for next year -- the 2017-2018 school year.

We need as many people as possible to help put on activities like dances, registration day, school pictures, etc.

As an incentive to recruit next year’s volunteers, we’re holding a contest among seventh graders.  The seventh grade homeroom with the highest ratio of completed volunteer forms to students gets a doughnut party!

That’s right, doughnuts at school!  YUM!

So, take those forms home and ask your parents, grandparents, neighbors, aunts, uncles, etc. to sign up.

Only forms that have a volunteer name and at least one form of contact information (home phone, cell phone or email) are eligible.

Forms will be handed out in your homeroom and are due by Friday, April 21.  If you need additional forms, you can pick them up in the office, print them from School Loop or simply photocopy the blank one you were originally given.

Pioneer Parents,

It is important to note that the "Contacts" list in your Aeries Parent Portal is used as your Child's Emergency Card.

Please log into your Parent Portal Account and update the contacts with the names and phone numbers of all of the individuals that you authorize to pick up your child from school, including yourself.

All parents, guardians, etc… should be listed along with anyone else you give permission to pick your child up in case of an emergency.

Keep in mind that this list can be updated and changed by you as need throughout the school year.

If you received a phone message on Thursday evening, we need your students contacts list updated ASAP.

When completed please print the new Student Emergency Card from your portal and have your child bring it to the office before school no later than Monday, January 23rd.

Whenever you update or change the contacts in your child's emergency card/portal please print the new Student Emergency Card and bring it to the school office.

The link to the parent Portal and instructions on how to add to the contacts list is attached below.

A quick link to the portal website is available on the 2nd attachment.

.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office at (909)949-7770.
